PASSPORTS / VISAS: PASSPORTS: I hope by now you’ve all checked the expiration date on your passport—and if you don’t have one, please get one as soon as you can. If you need to apply you can download an application online and go to a post office. Make sure it is valid for 6 months after our trip. Please make a photocopy and give to Korina. VISAS: It will take about two weeks to process these and they are valid for 5 years, for multiple entries (so we can go every year!). It costs $140. I will take care of these for you, but I will need you to have your passports ready and applications filled out. I will be taking in our applications in March. One recent (2in x 2in) passport-photo, front view, white background. Snapshots or computer pictures are not acceptable;
A copy of a booking slip or a booked itinerary showing travel to and from Brazil, passenger names, itineraries, flight numbers and arrival/departure dates;
Applicants not applying in person must also present a proof of residence within the consular jurisdiction for the past 12 months (i.e. utility bill, driver license or voter's registration); An additional absent fee of US$10.00 will be charged for any application not submitted in person by the applicant or by his/her immediate family. No cash, personal or company checks are accepted. Payment must be made by money order, cashier’s check or certified check, made out to "Consulate General of Brazil". Please, only one money order/cashier's check/certified check for each application or a group of applications!
